TCS site Hacked, Domain name put on sale
After India’s security agencies and government offices, the country’s largest software company Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) was targeted in a major cyber attack.
Hackers reportedly attacked the company’s website, www.tcs.com and put its domain name on sale on Sunday, Feb 7. The company has, however, restored the website.
GSLV MK III liquid stage to be tested in Feb says ISRO
After the successful static testing of its Solid Propellant Booster Rocket Stage, S-200, for GSLV Mk III Launch Vehicle that would put heavier satellites in space, India would test the liquid stage later this month.
“We are in the final stages of preparation for the test of the liquid stage (two liquid engines each with 110 tonnes of propellants) at the Liquid Propulsion Centre at Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu,” Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K Radhakrishnan told reporters here today.

UN climate chief defends Pachauri

Yvo de Boer, executive director of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said Pachauri was not personally responsible for the claim that global warming could melt Himalayan glaciers by 2035.

Govt revise deadline for number portability
The government today said it would introduce mobile number portability (MNP) across the country by March 31, a three-month delay from the scheduled launch. MNP, which would allow mobile users to retain their numbers even after changing their operators, was scheduled to start today in all the metros and category A circles, followed by rest of the circles by March 20.
Tobacco can be biofuel of future vehicles
Researchers have identified a way of increasing oil content in tobacco leaves as a prelude to using these for biofuel.
In some instances, the modified tobacco plants produced 20-fold more oil in their leaves, said Vyacheslav Andrianov, assistant professor of cancer biology at Jefferson Medical College.
