Google phone coming next week
Apple’s iPhones will have a big competition on their hands as Google is set to launch its much discussed smart phone next week.
The new smart phone, Nexus One, may be unveiled Jan 5 when the internet search engine giant holds a media briefing about its smart phone business at its Mountainview headquarters in California.
2009 was the year of open source thanks to google
Since almost 10 years, companies have known the benefits of adopting open source for business. Few have followed but the rest have stayed away from it. With the global economic slowdown forcing companies to rethink strategies, there has been one thing which has motivated companies the most, that is, Google extensively using open source.
Google Phone seem to Be in Works
Google appears to be preparing to market its own smartphone, a move that would intensify the company’s rivalry with Apple, whose iPhone dominates the high-end smartphone market in the United States.
On Friday, Google distributed a new phone running its own Android operating software to many of its employees. On the messaging service Twitter, some Google employees described the device as a “Google phone,” renewing speculation that the company is getting ready to release a mobile phone with its own brand.
Google puts on its Goggles offering visual search
The days of standing in front of a landmark, wondering what it is and when it was built, or wanting to know more about a painting in a gallery than merely the artist’s name and when he or she died, are numbered.
A new Google service allows smartphone users to take a picture and submit it as a query to Google’s search engine. The application determines what the picture is and returns a series of results in the phone’s browser. Point the camera at the label on a bottle of wine and Google will return tasting notes.
Google wants to find new ways to get its millions of daily users searching so that it can deliver more adverts alongside the search results. It has already introduced searching by voice and wants to extend the categories of search to “sight”.
